sameAs
sameAs is a structured-data property listing the other web pages that represent the same entity — your LinkedIn page, Wikidata entry, GitHub organisation, directory profiles. It's how you tell search systems which accounts are genuinely yours.
Its value is cross-checkable corroboration. A claim on your own website is unverified; the same claim confirmed on an independent profile is evidence. A sameAs list with a handful of real, verifiable profiles is one of the strongest entity signals available.
The common failure is a near-empty list — a social link or two — on a site that's otherwise technically excellent. It quietly caps how confidently anything can identify the business.
Why it matters
Free, quick, and disproportionately effective for a business competing with similarly named organisations.
