Knowledge Graph

A knowledge graph is a structured database of entities and the relationships between them. Google's powers knowledge panels and much of its understanding of who a business is and what it does.

Entries are assembled from many corroborating sources — your site's structured data, Wikipedia and Wikidata, business directories, news mentions — not from any single claim you make about yourself.

You cannot edit it directly. You influence it by making consistent, verifiable statements in the places it draws from, which is why the practical work is directory listings and structured data rather than anything on your homepage.

Why it matters

Presence in the graph is what makes a system confident enough to name you. Absence is why a well-optimised site can still never get recommended.
