llms.txt
llms.txt is a proposed standard: a plain-text file at your domain root giving language models a clean, structured summary of what your site offers and where the important pages are — conceptually robots.txt for AI.
The rationale is that models parsing a JavaScript-heavy site with navigation, banners and adverts extract facts less reliably than they would from a flat, curated summary. The file removes the guesswork.
It is not yet an agreed standard and no engine guarantees using it. But it costs an afternoon, it forces you to state your services and prices precisely in one place, and that document is useful whether or not any crawler reads it.
Why it matters
A cheap hedge with a real side benefit. If your prices and services can't be stated clearly in one flat file, that's worth discovering.
